Biography

Vanessa Suen is a theatre set and costume designer from Hong Kong. She is presently pursuing a Master of Arts in Theatre Design at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She earned a BFA (Honours) in set and costume design from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, securing multiple scholarships. Since 2016, she has served as a part-time instructor at the Theatre Design School at the same institution and was appointed Artist-in-Residence in 2020, 2022, and 2024. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she engages in freelance design projects.

Awards:

2025 – Awarded the Best Set Design at the 34th Hong Kong Drama Awards for “Love in Silence.”

2024 – Honored with the Scenography of the Year award at the IATC(HK) Critics Awards for “Bhagavad Gita”.

2024 – Recognized with the Best Stage Design award at the 8th Hong Kong Theatre Libre for “All is Calm.”

2018 – Received the Best Set Design award at the 27th Hong Kong Drama Awards for “Peer Gynt.”
