Biography

New Professional

Enthusiastic and driven theatre designer and maker based in northern England. Looking for opportunities to expand and share my skill set across all aspects of performance. With design, making and backstage experience, and a specific interest in puppetry and mechanisms, I can apply my skills to most roles, and am undaunted by the scale of a project.

A play about the suffragette movement and Holloway prison. We wanted to create a “surreal world based in reality”. Inspired by Escher, vorticism, search lights and Holloway prison, I created a harsh and decaying world for the actors to inhabit.

The floor was painted to echo paving slabs, but also a DnD battle map/game board. The roof pieces were inspired by the shape of a D12 die, and a football, working for both shows.

The Dungeons and Dragons themed show was performed in the round. We wanted to create a homemade, toy-like feeling for the fantasy realm and a more realistic look for the real world, playing heavily with lights to achieve swift transitions between scenes and worlds. Puppets involved a table that transformed into a 5 headed dragon, wraiths, and a gelatinous cube. The set also had to work in rep with The Wolves by Sarah Delappe.
