Biography

Dave Benson, British Designer and scenic creator currently working in the UK, Ireland, Europe and USA.

Scenic design, construction and scale model making for theatre, television and film, sculpture 3d artist. Having had over 30 years experience in theatre set and costume design painting and construction and television art departments, dave is an ideal candidate to bring out the best possible visual elements of your production, no matter what the budget and venue requirements, limitations and scale.

During this time he has also worked with students at Salford University, Arden, Oldham and Pendleton and Damu, Brno colleges.

He has  designed and produced scenery for many European première productions which were varied in scale and financial constraints.

Some of his European première productions include Beetlejuice at Karlin Theatre Prague, Let snů LILI, Dream flight and Mladý Frankenstein (Young Frankenstein) at the City Theatre Brno, Titanic (the musical) in at  York Theatre Royal and The Gordon Craig Stevenage  Threads, Oldham Coliseum Muj romantický príbeh (My romantic History) Burant theatre Brno,  Bohéma 1914 – Zima, Jaro (based on La Bohème – Puccini) at Damu Brno, Christmas Carol, A Story of hope, Yorktown Stage New York, Billy Elliot, Something rotten, Catch me if you can, Ghost and Sweeney Todd at DJKT Plzen, Podnájem na bulváru Courteline at the city theatre Kladno, Micheal Collins at Draioct, Dublin. Emerald Storm Uk Tour, from Glasgow Pavilion to  kings Lyn Corn exchange, Two Little Dicky Birds Brockley Jack Theatre London and tour.

he has worked at DJKT in Plzen for 8 years designing sets, sets and costumes and even set costumes and projections for many of their musicals including Garden of wonders, Dracula, Jesus Christ Superstar, National Theatre Ostrava, Kiss Me Kate and Oliver.Brit youth Theatre Manchester, Little shop of horrors, Joseph, Welcome to the west end. Stage further Productions, Wizard of oz starring Jack Wilde and Sophie Lawrence, Uk tour Little shop of horrors, starring Suzanne Jones, Gaiety theatre IOM fantastics, You’re a good man Charlie Brown, Godspell, Little Shop of Horrors Fiddler on the roof and Oh what a lovely war.

he has worked for many years  as a scenic artist and on construction and sculpture  for Take 1 scenic and Splinter scenery and for BBC and Netflix.
