Biography

Graduate
I am a Bristol based theatre designer and a recent 2023 graduate of The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School where I studied for my Master of Arts in Performance Design, specializing in Set and Costume Design. Before this, I studied at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio where I double majored in Theatre: Design & Technical and Theatre: Acting & Directing and double minored in Studio Art and History. I graduate from BW in May of 2022.

I am driven by my desire to create and inspire others. When I was deciding what to pursue as a major, I knew that whatever I chose, I wanted to use it to make a difference in the world. I aspire to create change through my work in theatre, hoping to have a positive impact on our ever growing society. When I am not designing, I enjoy expressing my creative side through baking for friends and family.

I would like to thank my amazing tutors for all of their support throughout the years. To Bronia & Angela, thank you for your constant support throughout my time at BOVTS, I would not be the designer I am today without the two of you always encouraging me through my artistic journey to discover myself. To Jeff, thank you for always believing in me and my designs. I know I wouldn’t be here without you, thank you for all the wonderful opportunities. To Heidi, your constant support in my acting and directing work really helped me through my undergraduate years, thank you for helping me develop my directing style. A huge thank you to all of my family and friends for always being by my side and supporting my work and my move to the UK. I can’t wait to see what comes next!

Mischief, magic, lovers and fools.

Set beneath a glittering, ethereal surface you will find Shakespeare’s dazzling play transformed into a macabre Edwardian fable. As night falls our slumbering players are swept up in an otherworldly experience, left to navigate fairy enchantments, lovers’ quarrels and patriarchal norms.

Through teasing, tyranny and trickery, familial ties become fraught and fractured; and with the early Suffrage movement creeping into the subconscious, it seems impossible to find a resolution by sunrise. A visionary and moralistic take on Shakespeare’s playful comedy, brimming with its original dramatic poetry.

Dorian is a thrilling stage adaptation of The Picture of Dorian Gray intertwined with snippets from author Oscar Wilde’s own life, resulting in a deliciously dark and dynamic celebration of chaotic queer joy. A fusion of Victorian and contemporary flavours, join our trio of all-knowing narrators as they take you through Oscar and Dorian’s antics in this luxurious, witty and moving three-hander.

Dorian is the first collaboration between Phoebe Eclair-Powell (Bruntwood Prize 2019) and Owen Horsley (Associate Director of the RSC).

An unsettling tale of a Victorian-era barber who returns home to London after fifteen years of exile to take revenge on the corrupt judge who ruined his life.

This was a theoretical theatre project done at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in collaboration with Derek Bond. We were inspired by modern day abattoirs mixing with the Victorian era to create an historically inspired show that still highlights issues seen today between the upper class and the working class.
