Ian Teague
Who you are/What you do: I represent SBTD on the board of Skillscene a cross industry body including employers, professional associations, unions and individual employers that acts as an industry consultant on all matters relating to standards of training in technical theatre arts.
I am a freelance designer and have designed over 150 productions. My design projects include main house rep shows, community plays, educational theatre, small-scale touring and, site-specific work.
Alongside this I pass on the dubious wisdom I have accrued over the last 38 years at The BRIT School in Croydon where I am Assistant Director of Production Arts and teach Set Design to 16 -18 year olds.
Time in the Industry: 38 years
Why you joined the SBTD/Committee: After my designs for small cast productions of Shakespeare formed part of the Golden Triga winning British entry at PQ 2003 and the subsequent exhibition at the Theatre Museum I joined the committee to provide a link between the SBTD and The Equity Designers Committee which I was at the time a member of. The Equity Designers Committee has long gone but I am still here.
