Eleanor Field
I am a scenographer and academic with over a decade of professional design experience. I have taught on various design courses, currently at Nottingham Trent University. As a scenographer, I have worked with companies such as Nottingham Playhouse, Derby Theatre, and Curve Theatre, ranging from small-scale tours to regional main stages. My design work includes some window displays for Selfridges, London, which really impressed my Grandma.
My PhD research explores mess and scenographic processes, investigating what an embrace of mess can offer as a challenge to current industry expectations of theatre-making processes and possibilities. It’s a bit anarchic and has led me to believe that design-led processes have the potential to save the world.
My research has led me to speak at numerous conferences and symposiums, including PQ Symposiums, Collisions 24, Theatre and Performance Research Association (TaPRA) conference, and the International Federation of Theatre Research at Prague Quadrennial 2023.
I am also a postgraduate representative for TaPRA, hosting events that bring together a community of researchers and designers.
