Assistance Experience

Over the years, I have acquired a considerable degree of knowledge on the design, production, and management of performance costumes and sets through both academic and practical experience. In 2019 I received a BA in Drama with Distinction from the University of Virginia as a Miller Arts Scholar of Drama, and in 2024 I completed an MA in Costume Design for Performance with Distinction from the London College of Fashion. I have supplemented this academic concentration on performance design with demonstrable experience as an independent costume designer. I have worked on productions in theatre, film, opera and dance. And my own performance designs have been featured at venues including the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington, D.C., the Virginia Film Festival, the DU Film Festival in Dublin, and various galleries and performance venues across London. My work has spanned a wide range of production types, including those in education, community theatre, short film, and editorial projects.

I have worked on several theatre productions as an assistant designer, most notably as a university undergraduate student, where I assisted costume designers on multiple main-stage productions of the Department of Drama. As an assistant designer, I assisted in various responsibilities, including, but not limited to: Design renderings, research, script analysis, note-taking and help at fittings, production/design meetings, rehearsals, acquisition of garments/textiles and returns. I also liaised with other members of the production team and ensured the efficient execution and fulfillment of all costume/set operations.

In addition to the role of assistant designer and designer, I have gained valuable experience as a dresser, wardrobe supervisor, scenic painter, and many other worthwhile roles that support a theatrical production, helping me to understand the many moving parts and contributions to a show. I am more than prepared to take on a variety of tasks and artistic challenges, and I love nothing more than both supporting and learning from other members of a theatrical production.

My academic experience has lent me excellent organizational skills and superb research abilities, and my studio art background has equipped me with particularly good model and drawn rendering skills.
