ABTT – Association of British Theatre Technicians


The Association of British Theatre Technicians is a charity and a company limited by the guarantee of its members. It campaigns on behalf of the theatre industry to ensure legislation is appropriate to the industry’s needs, and that regulations are suitably drafted and enforced. Anyone who has an interest in technical theatre, whether in a professional or amateur capacity, can join the Association of British Theatre Technicians.

The ABTT advises and provides information on safe working practices, planning, good practice and enforcement within the theatre industry.

Publications include Codes of Practice, Data Sheets, Journals and with provision of a comprehensive building advice service with collection and dissemination of up to date information on technical theatre subjects. The Association encourages technical education at all levels and provides in-service training and seminars, supporting the industry by networking information to members.
