Tanya McCallin trained at Central School of Art and Design.

After several productions for regional companies and the London Fringe she began a series of productions of new plays for Hampstead Theatre, designing "Sparrowfall", "Dusa, Fish, Stas and Vi" (Mayfair Theatre, Paris and MTC, New York); "Abigail's Party" (BBC Film); "Bodies" (Ambassadors Theatre and in Amsterdam); "The Elephant Man" (redesigned for the Royal National Theatre); "The Hard Shoulder" (Aldwych Theatre); "Sufficient Carbohydrate" (Albery Theatre); "The Perfectionist" and "A Little Like Drowning".
Other productions include "Macbeth", "Uncle Vanya", "Betrayal" and "Mourning Becomes Electra" (Melbourne Theatre Company); "Bread", "They Are Dying Out", "Don Juan Returns From The Wars" and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" She has designed the costumes for "After the Fall" (Royal National Theatre); "Make and Break" (Kennedy Center, USA); "The Perfect Ganesh" (West Yorkshire Playhouse); "Steaming" (Piccadilly); and "Fool for Love" (Donmar).
