Biography

Judith's first degree was in Fashion Textiles then she studied Theatre Design at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. She was Resident Designer at the Gateway Theatre, Chester, then Head of Design at the Oldham Coliseum before going freelance in 1986. She became Head of Design at the Library Theatre, Manchester in 1991 and continues to work there on a regular basis.
For the Library she has designed many of their successful productions of plays by Neil Simon including "The Brighton Beach Trilogy" and "Laughter on the 23rd Floor" which she also designed for the West End run starring Gene Wilder.

Judith has designed several musicals, working with director Roger Haines, including "Assassins", "Goodnight Mr Tom" and "Company". She designed the last two Rock 'n' Roll musicals for Theatr Clwyd, written and directed by Peter Rowe.

Judith designed "Falstaff" for the Royal Northern College of Music. It was extremely well received and won the Manchester Evening News Award for the best production of an opera in 2001. She also designed "The Borrowers" which started at the Library and has now completed two national tours.

Recent work for the Library includes "Pygmalion" with Chris Honer and "The Memory of Water" with Roger Haines.
