Carbon Literacy Birmingham – 26th June

SCROLL TO DISCOVER MORE

Description: Theatre Design for Sustainable Futures is an 8 hour course accredited by The Carbon Literacy Project and created and delivered by theatre designers from the SBTD Sustainability Working Group.

This is the first course specifically tailored to the needs of theatre designers and their collaborators, with a focus on freelance artistic practice and decision making processes. Our course seeks to address the need for theatre designers of all types to be knowledgeable and confident about sustainable practice both in the studio and in production, and to help them make informed choices in their work and when faced with the challenges of production meetings and negotiations over design choices.

We also welcome those who work closely with designers as part of the creative and production team- educators, students, directors, theatre makers, puppet makers, prop and set makers, costume supervisors, stage managers, lighting designers, production managers etc.

You will gain basic knowledge surrounding our individual and collective carbon usage within the theatre industry and how to work towards actively reducing this, using action based learning and observing the most updated Green Book standards. By the end of the course, you will become a certified Carbon Literate Citizen.

Come along, meet like-minded individuals, and let’s work together towards a greener future!
