Course Descriptions:
Level One.
The first level introduces the basic skills and critical framework for Theatre Design as a practice. Projects that deal with the application and use of colour,
light, composition and space are a major part of the curriculum. Fundamental issues about space and scale, as well as acquiring the skills of production required for theatre
designers in model making and costume design.
Level Two.
The second level develops the experimental and creative potential of Theatre Design. There are student placements, projects requiring student participation as theatre
creators and an emphasis on understanding theatre from an event based perspective.
Level Three.
At Level Three students are expected to be capable of asserting a distinctive identity for their work, and to take a critical view of the Theatre Design scene and
their potential place in it. Work should have a challenging, experimental feel, whilst indicating a solid foundation in the basic skills and conventions of Theatre Design.
