Course Descriptions:
The course aims to produce designers who are truly multi-skilled, and who embrace all aspects of the visual presentation of a work. Its unique focus on dance enables students to draw their inspiration from non-verbal stimuli provided by the body in space, revealed by light.
Individuals may choose to concentrate on a particular design element through which to develop a scenographic approach. In all projects a dialogue with choreographers is encouraged from the earliest stage possible, facilitating the production of work where design is integral rather than decorative.
No other course in the world provides such an opportunity to place dance scenography at the centre of interdisciplinary activity. In doing so it raises the status of design for performance, whilst abandoning the traditional boundaries between set, costume and lighting.
