Biography

William trained at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts where he specialised in theatre design. He graduated with a First Class BA (Hons) in Technical Theatre and was also awarded the Diana Boddington prize for his outstanding contribution to Technical Theatre.

As a student he designed: "Carousel" (Bridewell Theatre), "The Forest" (Albany Theatre), and "Valued Friends" (Judi Dench Theatre), and as Assistant Designer: "A Little Night Music" (Chelsea Theatre), and "Godspell" (BAC).

Since graduating in 2005 William has been working as a freelance designer. Design credits include: "Songs for A New World", "For Services Rendered", "Saturday Sunday Monday", and "The Guid Sisters" (all at Judi Dench Theatre), "Frank Pig Says Hello", and "Boys Plays" (Barons Court Theatre), "Playhouse Creatures", and "A Warwickshire Testimony" (Pleasance Theatre, London), "Beyond Omarska", and "Rural" (White Bear Theatre), "Superheroes" (Pleasance Edinburgh), "Nunsense" (St Peter's Church, London), and as part of the Orange Tree Theatre's Celebration of George Bernard Shaw: "Major Barbara" and the Shaw Triple Bills - "How He Lied To Her Husband", "O'Flaherty VC", "Press Cuttings", "Overruled", "Augustus Does His Bit", and "Village Wooing".

Other credits: Associate Designer to John Napier on "Red Red Shoes", Assistant Designer on "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (CLS/RSC national tour), and "Into The Woods" (Oxford School of Drama), as Assistant Scenic Painter: "The Countess" (Yvonne Arnaud Theatre) and "Brenda Bly Teen Detective" (Pleasance Theatre London), as Scenic Painter: "Menopause The Musical" (The Shaw Theatre London), "The Wizard of Oz" (Cassiobury Junior School) and "It's No Joke" 'Comedy School), as Design Consultant: "The Brothers" (Hackney Empire), and as Casual Wardrobe staff for ENO's "The Canterville Ghost" (Sadlers Wells), and "Daddy Cool The Musical" (Shaftesbury Theatre, London and Berlin, Germany).

William is currently working on designs for summer 2007 which include: "Jane Eyre" at the New Players Theatre, London and "Dangerous" at Bailiwick Theatre, Chicago.
