I trained as a theatre designer at Wimbledon School of Art, graduating in 1969. For most of the next 12 years I worked exclusively in theatre in repertory and Theatre In Education companies such as The Octagon Theatre Bolton, Lincoln Theatre Royal, Manchester Library Theatre, The Connaught Theatre Worthing, Manchester Contact Theatre and M6 Theatre Company.
At the beginning of the 1980s I went freelance and also began to explore other areas of work, for a time working as an Art Director with Cosgrove Hall Productions making model animation films for television such as “The Wind in the Willows”.
Over the last years I have combined freelance theatre design at places such as Bristol Old Vic, The Duke’s Playhouse Lancaster, Manchester Library Theatre amongst others, with designing for live events, themed exhibitions and parties. In many ways the different disciplines have cross-fertilised the various facets of my work be they in the theatre or Hampton Court Palace.
