“It is the confession, not the priest, that gives us absolution.” (Oscar Wilde) This new site-specific piece by seven sisters group was a reflection on the nature of confessions and feelings of guilt in society. Created for an intriguing, circular site in Camden’s Roundhouse, the project questioned our attitudes to religious and social codes that promote guilt and shame. The theme for this work emerged from a project commissioned by the V&A for the Florentine Altar in the Medieval & Renaissance Gallery earlier this year. “Guilt is the price we pay willingly for doing what we are going to do anyway.” (Isabelle Holland )
