This reworking of Lorca's play transposes the action from thirties rural Spain to the plains of 1950s Texas and a Primitive Baptist family. The young women are trapped within the isolation of the great expanse of space of the Texan plains. The stifling dry heat of the dusty environment is also ever present in design for the stage floor.
