Biography

Sakina trained in set and costume design at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Her design credits include: 'Hansel und Gretel' (Royal Academy of Music), 'The Visit', 'Find Me' and 'Down in the Dumps' (Nottingham Playhouse), Gala Event (Royal Albert Hall), 'Under the Bed' (Theatre Centre, National Tour), 'Lyrical MC' (Tamasha Theatre Company touring), 'Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf', 'Under the Blue Sky' and 'Days of Wine and Roses' (Theatre by the Lake Studio, Keswick), 'The Joy of Politics' (Black Sheep Comedy, National Tour) 'The Golden Voyage of Sinbad' (C Venues, Edinburgh Festival), 'Homestead' (Shady Dolls Theatre Company, Theatre Museum, Covent Garden), 'A Christmas Carol' (Big Foot Theatre Company, Schools Tour), 'Junior Embrace' Summer Schools (Theatre Royal Bath).
As an assistant designer: 'Ghosts in the Gallery' (Polka Theatre).

Sakina has also worked as an AutoCAD Draughtsperson/Assistant Production Manager at the Royal Opera House and as a Model Maker for the National Theatre. She is a visiting lecturer in AutoCAD at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has taught model making at Rose Bruford College.

She is currently designing 'Blood Wedding' by Federico Garcia Lorca and 'White Peacock' a new play by Gill Brigg for young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties, both for Nottingham Playhouse.
