The play was inspired by the biography of a 19th Century African American slave, Ellen Craft who escaped to freedom disguised as a white man. With 12 different locations, audiences were taken on a journey from the plantation house, to a busy pub in Deptford, London, from on board a whaling ship to the Antarctic continent.
