Biography

Rachel began specialising in theatre design at the University of Kent in 2003. Aware of the extensive skills required of a theatre designer she applied to an intensive two-year Master's degree in theatre at the University of British Columbia. This gave her the opportunity to design a large number of theatre pieces in theory and practice, gaining knowledge in all aspects of design: set, lights and costumes. While in Vancouver she was asked to design the sets for Brecht's "Mother Courage and Her Children", solidifying her specialisation in set design.

Since returning to London in 2007 Rachel has expanded her interest in design to include dance and other smaller scale, intimate installation events. While at Laban she began collaborating with choreographers to create original events, which blurred the boundary between scenography and choreography. She has continued to collaborate with choreographers, designing the set, lights and costumes for events at The Robin Howard Theatre in Euston and the Edinburgh Fringe.

Rachel is currently looking for opportunities to expand her theatre design experience in London.
