Biography

Mydd is an award winning set and costume designer, visual dramaturg and director working in theatre, live art and installation.
Mydd trained in theatre design at Wimbledon school and fine art (installation) at Falmouth College of Art. He is also production designer and visual dramaturg for NPO company WildWorks, (working with the company since it was formed in 2005).

WildWorks’ last performance ‘100:UnEarth’ at The Lost Gardens of Heligan ( part of the 1418:NOW program) sold out during its 3 week run performing to over 5000 audience in Cornwall this summer, likewise did previous show ‘Wolf’s Child’ which played to over 10,000 people in both Norfolk and Cornwall.

Mydd has also worked alongside theatre makers Louise Mari and Nigel Barrett (founding members of ‘SHUNT’) for the last 6 years winning the Oxford Samuel Beckett
Theatre Trust award 2015 with ‘The Body' which sold out at the Barbican, London.

In 2018 he worked with the duo to create and develop a new adaptation of “Party Skills for the End of The World’ at Shoreditch Town Hall, London 2018.

Mydd Designed the acclaimed “The Passion” starring Michael Sheen. “The Passion” was a 72 hour none stop promenade theatrical retelling of the last days and crucifixion of a Christ like character. “The Passion” took over the streets, beaches, shopping centres and working men’s clubs of Port Talbot, Wales on Easter weekend 2011. The project included over 1200 performers both professional and local community performers.

He followed by designing the 2 year pioneering exhibition “The Enchanted Palace” at Kensington Palace.
“It casts a spell over Kensington Palace. It’s like falling into a fairytale, albeit sometimes a sinister one”.

He has worked with other companies such as Kneehigh, Punchdrunk, NYT, BAC, Deaf and Hear Ensemble,The Eden Project

He is a visiting lecturer at Falmouth University and Nottingham Trent University.
