Biography
I have recently completed my Postgraduate Diploma in Technical Theatre at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. I am in the beginning stages of my career as a Freelance Set and Costume Designer.
Whilst my main field of expertise is set and costume design I also have abilities and interests in Scenic Art and Props Making. I have worked hard over the past year to build up my skills base and enhance my design work. I have worked on two and three part moulds to create latex casts as well as poly-carving and mask making. I am confident in my scenic art work, using my knowledge of design to improve my interpretation of model box finishes and research images.
I am an extremely capable model maker and am very confident when both reading and drawing scale plans and elevations. I am also competent in Adobe Photoshop, WYSIWYG and Vectorworks with some experience in AutoCAD.
During my time at Mountview I have expanded enormously on the grounding I had already worked so hard to obtain. I have used my theoretical knowledge and research skills, from my previous degree, whilst working on design projects but I have also been able to focus on the practicalities and budgetary requirements of my designs. I have been successful managing a design team in realising my own work as well as performing as part of the team as an Assistant Designer realising the work of others. I am an extremely good team player, constantly liaising with every different department to ensure issues are ironed out very quickly with no confusion caused. Working as an Assistant I have been able to learn an exceptional amount from other, more experienced Freelancers about their own design techniques and practices.
I have become increasingly confident that a career in the theatre, more particularly as a designer, is right for me. I am extremely passionate about this industry and I know that I can contribute significantly to it given the chance.
