Biography

Whilst studying at Central School of Speech and Drama, Keith became interested in designing in non-theatrical spaces and much of his work has been site-specific based, using the environment to tell the story and involving the audience actively in the production. Keith's stage adaptation and design of Angela Carter's "The Bloody Chamber" inside Edinburgh's catacombs won a Herald Angel Award for Outstanding Achievement and was runner up as Best Design for the Total Theatre Awards. His production of Carter's "The Lady of the House of Love" - part of The British Festival of Visual Theatre - was staged in the former bookshop at the BAC.
Keith was born in Shropshire and began his theatrical career as an actor for the Manchester Youth Theatre. He then went to Liverpool Polytechnic to study Theatre and Film, where he directed and designed "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" and "The House of Bernarda Alba".

Keith was also based in Bristol for a number of years where he formed his own theatre company - Rear Window Productions - and designed "The Importance of Being Earnest", "Don Giovanni", "Macbeth" and "Don Carlos".

Other design work includes: "Is There Life After High School?", "Oliver!", "Market Day" (A Year of the Artist project), "The Little Prince", "Sweeney Todd", "Go Back For Murder", "If I Were Lifted Up From Earth", "Bent" (Time Out Critics' Choice) and "Take It To The Green Light, Barry!".

Keith also works for the Theatre Museum, managing their Corporate Hire Department and teaching Theatre Design workshops.

Keith recently designed the UK premiere of "Ruthless" at Stratford Circus Space. To see images from the show etc. click on http://www.okaicollier.co.uk
