Biography

HELEN FOWNES-DAVIES (formerly Helen Davies)

Helen is a graduate of Nottingham Trent University in Theatre Design and is based in Nottingham.

In 1996 she was appointed Resident Designer at The Arts and Education Centre in Nottingham and designed numerous productions including devised shows, large scale musicals and concerts, some of which have toured internationally and include: "Guys and Dolls", "South Pacific", "42nd Street", "West Side Story", "Roman Scandals" (Edinburgh Fringe 1997) "Dance to the Music of Time" (European Tour), "Tissue", "100% Babe", "After Juliet", "The Decameron" as well as initiating and carrying out Theatre Arts based projects in schools, colleges and learning centres for children, adults and people with learning disabilities.

Now currently working as a freelance designer Helen has worked with main stage, touring, T.I.E and site-specific theatre companies. Her recent shows include: "A Who's Who of Flapland" (Lakeside Theatre) "Satin 'n' Steel" (Nottingham Playhouse and Bolton Octagon) "The Man Who" (Nottingham Playhouse) "The Snow Queen", "The Firebird" and "Arabian Nights" (Birmingham Mac) "Two Minutes Silence" (Focus Productions) "Safahr" (Birmingham Royal Ballet and Creative Partnerships).

Her Touring work includes: "The Elves and the Shoemaker" (Birmingham Mac) "The Bad One" (Women In Theatre) "Bowled A Googly" (Oxfordshire Touring Theatre and New Perspectives) "Brethren" and "Three Tales of Courage" (Eclipse Theatre, Nottingham Playhouse) "Stepping Stones", "Come with Me", "The Nightmaze" and "Zagazoo" (Roundabout Theatre, Nottingham Playhouse).
