The Society of British Theatre Designers

This was a collaboration between the Theatre School at Wimbledon School of Art and Trojan horse Theatre Company. Students had the role of designing the various elements of the production and I acted as design supervisor and intermediary with Alkis Kritikos, particularly when situations became stressesd! Dave horn the senior lecturer in charge of lighting similarly mentored the student lighting designer. Transported from ancient myth to the present day, Clytemnestra, Iphigenia, Aegisthus and Agamemnon struggle to escape their original destinies and return to life. Occupying a grotesque, bizarre and darkly comic world, the play turns the conventional characters and stories surreally on their heads. Clytemnestra is the “woman with a man’s heart”, and, enveloped in blood and violence, her quest to rediscover love and passion reaches a surprising and spectacular climax. The cast included Hollywood star Sarah Douglas (Superman 1 & II, Falcon Crest, Conan the Destroyer) Glenn Conroy, Kitty O’Lone, Maureen Purkis and the first UK stage appearance of Stratos Tzortzoglou.
