The hexagonal rock formations of the Giant's Causeway, inspired a set made of two trucks which could be moved by the actors to create the castle, the heath, banquet, throne room. One opened to become the witch's cauldron out of which Hecate climbed. They formed stairs to Duncan's bedroom, and the battlements of Macbeth's castle. Footholds enabled actors to climb them and move from one to the other.
