Biography
Andy Hamer was educated in Fine Art, during which time he developed an interest in time based medium and installation sculpture. After graduating this became an excellent grounding for his now chosen career as a scenographer. Understanding the needs and differences for site-specific work as well as more conventional theatrical projects.
Hamer received numerous awards and nominations for his work whilst based in Brighton, as resident theatre design consultant, New Venture Theatre. He has also been awarded for community based workshops he has devised and led. A fine tuning of his scenographic practice was achieved during the post graduate study at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, London. Developing and refining computer and digital media skills, filming and editing. Further training opportunities were taken by Hamer to study Opera Design at DAMU, School of Theatre and Fine Art, Prague.
Andy Hamer has worked on numerous shows and projects and film, some of them have included producing an evening of performances, including his own work at the Linbury Studio, The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London; Costume designer "Fly Like A Butterfly", The Royal Ballet; Lighting design "From Mum To Mum From Me", Resolution!, The Place, London; Lighting design "On The Edge Of A Dream", Resolution!, The Place, London; Costume designer "Betrachten 2", Laban School of Dance, London; Lighting designer "Autumn's Requiem", Laban School of Dance; Lighting designer "Turtle Dreams", Edinburgh Festival.
