Biography
Andrew Wood studied Theatre Design at Nottingham Trent Polytechnic and graduated in 1991. He worked as a freelance designer before joining Contact Theatre in Manchester where over five years he filled every position in the Design Department from assistant to Associate Director (Design).
Designs for Contact include "Romeo and Juliet", "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "The Trial", the touring production of "The Mill on the Floss" and six Young Playwrights Festivals.
Since returning to freelance work designs include: "Neville's Island" and "Blithe Spirit" (Harrogate Theatre); "Cold" and the 'Barramundi' festival (The Ashton Group Contemporary Theatre); the Future Tense and Northern Lines Festivals (New Writing North and Live Theatre in Newcastle); and "To You" which was the opening production at The Lowry Centre.
More recently he has designed "0leanna" for Hull Truck and "52 Degrees South" for Big Theatre at the newly opened Imperial War Museum North.
Andrew is a part time lecturer in Performance Design at the Arden School of Theatre in Manchester and has worked as a visiting lecturer at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and Manchester Metropolitan and Salford Universities.
