Updated to the 1950's with Don Pasquale as a successful designer of chic black and white interiors (with much homage to Fornasetti). After her marriage Norina starts to spend Pasquale's money and the austere, black, venetian blind walls flip on cue to reveal their coloured reverse with painted representations of her purchases. In the last scene the blinds are raised and topiary bushes added for a hide-and-seek finale in the conservatory.
