Sophie Neil trained in Drama and Theatre Arts at Goldsmiths, then took a Masters in Scenography at Central School of Speech and Drama, graduating with distinction in 2005.
Recent designs include: "The Beggers' Opera" and "The Threepenny Opera", both for Trinity College of Music (Blackheath Halls);
"The Runaround" (Camden People's Theatre); "Paramour" (Pleasance, Theatre 503, Camden People's Theatre); "Alfonso
the Wise" (Queen Elizabeth Hall), "The Play of Daniel" with the Dufay Collective (Dartington Hall, Devon), "L'Orfeo" for
Trinity College of Music (Greenwich Theatre).
Other credits include: "Insomnia" (Oval House); "Bethlehem Diaries" (Oxo Tower for London International Festival of Theatre, and a
tour to Germany); "Walking on Knives" (Embassy Theatre).
Dance direction and design include: "Dreamspace", created in collaboration with Laban and "To Any Dead Officer" (George Wood Theatre).
Sophie occasionally participates in Arts Council funded Research and Development workshops with emergent companies such as ChoppedLogic at Battersea Arts Centre and also for Dante or Die's
forthcoming site-specific work on "The Calliper Boy".
Future work includes "Chi Chi Bunichi" (Siobhan Davies Studios and ICA, 2008) and Ionesco's "Tales for Children" (Hackney Empire, 2007).
Sophie is Artist in Residence at Brook Community School in Hackney.
