MARK BAILEY

Mark Bailey has designed over 100 productions of theatre, opera and ballet in Britain, Europe and North America. His work includes designs for the Royal National Theatre, English National Ballet, Opera North and the Gate Theatre, Dublin, as well as many British Regional Theatres including Plymouth Theatre Royal, Bristol Old Vic, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Birimingham Rep., Nottingham Playhouse and Clwyd Theatr Cymru, where he is an Associate Artist.

Design Credits at Clwyd include: "Equus", "King Lear", "Private Lives", "Present Laughter", "Hay Fever", "Blithe Spirit", "Waiting for Godot", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and "The Alexander Cordell Trilogy".

Other recent work includes "Hamlet" in Chicago and "Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny" for Los Angeles Opera.

His many West End credits include: "The Importance of Being Earnest" (also Toronto), "The Winslow Boy", "Present Laughter", "Iolanthe", "The Gondoliers", "Rat Pack Confidential", "Which Witch?" (costumes) and "Mack and Mabel".

Other work in Music and Dance includes "Melody on the Move" (English National Ballet), "Fiddler on the Roof", which won the TMA/Barclays award for Best Musical Production 2002, "The Gondoliers", which won the same award in 2001, "Cabaret" and "Irma La Douce", both also nominated for TMA awards, for the Watermill, Newbury, and operas for Opera de Lausanne, Maggio Musicale Florence, Buxton Festival, ROH Linbury Studio and Almeida Opera.

Mark's designs on tour include "Hadrian VII", "Peace In Our Time", "Entertaining Mr Sloane", "A Judgement in Stone" and "The Rivals". For Television Mark has designed "Broken Lives" (BBC).
