Born in Venice, Luca studied Architecture in Genoa (BA, 1983) and then Theatre Design with Margaret Harris and Hayden Griffin at Motley Theatre Design Course (1984-85).He was a finalist in the 1987 Linbury Prize for Stage Design, won the Opera Ascona (Switzerland) Theatre Design Prize in 1990 and exhibited in the 1999 Time + Space exhibition in London. In 2004 his costume designs for "The Well of the Saints" was selected to form part of WSD 2005 - World Stage Design Conpetition 2005, Toronto.

- In mainland Europe he has designed for theatre: "The Well of the Saints", "Le Paradis" (Equinoxe, Chateauroux); "Killer Joe", "Jenny tout-court", "Hilarité bruyante ...", "Cantates des Jours Impairs" (Théâtre Poulaire Romand); "Harlequin" (Theatre Scala, Strasbourg); "La Bottega del Caffé" and "Il Bugiardo" (Campo San Trovaso, Venice); "I Due Gemelli Veneziani" (Borgio Verezzi - Venice); "La Parisienne" (La Versiliana Festival#41;; "Barbarians" (Teatro Duse, Genoa).

For opera: "L'Elisir d'Amore", "Anna Bolena" (Stadttheater, Biel); "Le Due Contesse"and "I Due Baroni"" (Casalmaggiore); "Ernani", "Romeo et Juliette" and "La Gazza Ladra" (Teatro Massimo, Palermo).

- For dance: "Romeo and Juliet" (Deutsche Staatsoper, Berlin); "Coppelia" (Teatro Valli, Reggio Emilia)

- For film: Production Designer in the musical film "Tuscan Skies" with Andrea Bocelli, directed by Larry Weinstein; "Nosferatu in Venice". Assistant designer to Danilo Donati on "Francesco" by L. Cavani, "La Voce della Luna" by F. Fellini, "Il Placido Don" by S. Bondarciuck.
