Kandis Cook, Canadian by birth, moved to the UK in 1974 where she trained with Motley having completed a BFA at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. She designs for theatre, opera and ballet. Recently she has designed "A Mad World My Master", directed by Sue Lefton (London's Shakespeare Globe); and costumes for "Amor and Psyche", choreographed by Kim Brandstrup, set designed by the Brothers Quay with music by Kim Helvig (Royal Danish Ballet, Copenhagen).As co-founder of Post Operative Productions in collaboration with Nick Till and Vocem she has created a theatrical visualisation and sound experience of Monteverdi's madrigals titled "Love and Desire", commissioned by Tom Morris, Artistic Director of BAC. Their next collaboration, now in progress, is a theatre experience of the film "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg".
For Birmingham Royal Ballet she has recently designed sets and costumes for a piece called "Powder", choreographed by Stanton Welch.
Other work in progress includes: designing costumes for "Turn of the Screw" for choreographer William Tucket, set designed by Steve Scott, commissioned by Royal Ballet and premièring at Sadlers Wells; and sets and costumes for "Taiko" being choreographed by Stanton Welch and commissioned by San Francisco Ballet.
