David Collis originally trained as a potter, then went on to the Motley Theatre Design Course and an Arts Council Design Bursary at the Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh. Then he went to Nottingham Playhouse as Head of Design followed by being Head of Design at English National Opera. He now works as a freelance designer.
