Carol Betera began her career at the Almost Free Theatre, London, and at Contact Theatre, Manchester. Since 1980 she has been based in Dublin.
Recent work includes "It's a Short Life" (Blue Raincoat Theatre Company), "How High is Up?" (The Ark), nominated for Irish Times Theatre Award, "Master Harold and the Boys" (Calypso Theatre Company), "Shadow of a Gunman" (Lyric, Belfast), "Wolf of Winter", "Finders Keepers" and "Sons and Daughters" (Irish National Theatre), and three new productions for Barabbas: "Moby Dan", "Dog", "Nightmare on Abbey St".
Previous work includes "The Risen People" (ICA, London), "Boss Grady's Boys", "Dark Lady", "I am of Ireland", "Ceacht Houdini" (Irish National Theatre), "Carthaginians", "Mrs McConachy's Money" (Lyric, Belfast).
She has worked extensively in young peoples' theatre with TEAM, Barnstorm, Storytellers and Second Age. Her work has been seen in Europe, America, Japan and Australia.
Costume design for film includes "Da", "Korea", "How Harry Became a Tree", "Fifth Province" and for television, "Dear Sarah", "Loving", "Brigid", "A Painful Case" and "The Ambassador 2", also "Just in Time" (production design).
