"King Lear" by William Shakespeare/2002
SET AND COSTUMES DESIGNED BY PAUL CARSTAIRS
Scene 1: Lear's castle
In this hypothetical design for a production of "King Lear" on the Main Stage at Stratford, the environment
reflects the disintegration of Lear's mind, with columns and platforms used to form a variety of settings for the
actors to work with, be they castles and palaces or woodland and heathland.
