"Romeo & Juliet" by William Shakespeare.
Northern Stage/Newcastle Playhouse - 1998
Directed by Alan Lyddiard - Lighting by Jeanine Davies
DESIGNER: NEIL MURRAY
The production was based on the idea that factory workers were preparing a production of "Romeo & Juliet". What we were seeing was like a final run.
The massive set was conceived as a naturalistic, metal and glass factory unit which included industrial elements. The overall effect was harsh and unrelentingly tragic.
