"Eyes of the Kappa" - The Gate Theatre Notting Hill /2002
A devised piece based on the myths and legends of Japan.

COSTUMES DESIGNED AND MADE BY JOHANNA SANSOM

The Gate Theatre space was transformed into an intimate oval arena with most of the action taking place on a 'hairy mound'. The costumes were influenced by traditional and modern Japan. Using man-made fabrics we tried to achieve a stylised synthetic look, whilst also taking comfort and ease of movement into consideration.
