"Heritage" by Nicola McCartney
Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh/1998 - revived 2001
Directed by Philip Howard - Lighting by Renny Robertson
DESIGNED BY FIONA WATT
1914: Two Irish families from opposite sides of the religious divide struggle to carve out a living in the vastness of the Canadian prairies. The shape of the set makes reference to the
'coffin' ships of the previous century, whose heritage still has a hold over the present.
"Heritage" played at the Traverse in 1998, before embarking on a tour of the Highlands
and Islands. It was revived in March 2001, playing in rep. with "The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek" by Naomi Wallace; directed, designed and played by the same company.
