"Cavalcade" by Noël Coward
Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, London /2000 - Director: Pat Trueman
DESIGNED BY EMMA DAVIS

The final song of the heroine summing up the play

Noël Coward's famous play is a pageant of English history seen through different generations of the same family. The set was a large-scale construction based on the merry-go-round floor of a fairground waltzer, on which the actors gamely ran, danced and cavorted. Painted on one side in typical fairground style, with boardwalk lighting, the set was a metaphor for the tumultuous history from the 1890s through to the 1930s.
